Launch meeting - 14th September 2011

After weeks of preparation and frenzied advertising, the launch meeting of the Cheltenham Group finally took place on 14th September 2011.

The meeting was opened by Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood and was followed by fun, yet very informative talks by Roz and Irene - our dietitians.

The response from people at the end of the meeting was very positive and some very useful feedback was provided on the membership questionnaires.

And a committee is formed

Following the initial meeting, a number of people expressed an interest in helping to form a committee for the new Support Group.

Several meetings later and the committee was formed.

Pat Mooney - Chair

Kate Shepherd - Secretary

Jane Scott - Treasurer

Ian Tucker - Membership Secretary

You can read our individual biographies on the About Us page.

The committee are currently hard at work organising the launch meeting in September and generally establishing the group.

Initial meeting

Diabetes UK contacted all people on their mailing list in the Cheltenham area and invited them to a meeting at Sandford Education Centre in March 2011.

The meeting was attended by 21 people with a further 30 expressing an interest. The overall response to forming a Cheltenham Support Group was very positive. A questionnaire was completed by all attendees and a number of suggestions were made by people about what they would like from the group.
